In November of 2022, Luke had his second documented tonic clonic seizure. After extensive testing he was subsequently diagnosed with epilepsy. However, after more than a year of seeing a variety of other neurologists, he was also diagnosed with KBG Syndrome. KBG is a rare genetic disorder that can result in skeletal abnormalities, cognitive and neurodevelopmental delays, heart defects, hearing loss, and seizures. Receiving the diagnosis explained Lukeβs challenges in early childhood β including plagiocephalybrachycephaly, failed hearing tests, and delayed milestones. Luke has regular visits to the doctor to monitor his growth, epilepsy, and cognitive development, and just received bilateral hearing aids. Luke has just started kindergarten and is so excited to start learning with his new friends.
Just a small donation will go a long way to helping me meet our goal for Penguin Plunge Inc. Please also consider joining us for the Penguin Plunge event which will be held on Sunday, March 2 at 12pm at Nyack Memorial Park.
