Join me in supporting Brielle Gaine, Luke Garrecht, and Zach Dolinsky

Hi all,
I'm reaching out to share something close to my heart and ask for your support. This year, I've joined the Penguin Plunge in the hopes of making a difference for families facing the unthinkable: caring for a seriously ill child while struggling with the overwhelming financial burden of medical and support costs.
The Penguin Plunge is a Rockland County-based charity dedicated to easing these burdens and bringing hope to families in their most challenging times. Often, what insurance covers is not always the best option for a childβs unique needs, making it crucial to help these families afford the best possible treatment and care for their kids Every dollar raised goes directly toward helping families afford critical care and support, allowing them to focus on what matters most - their child's well-being.
This year, the Penguin Plunge is sponsoring three amazing children from Rockland County:
- Luke Garrecht, a happy, energetic 5-year-old from Tappan who is bravely facing KBG Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that results in cognitive and neurodevelopmental delays, seizures, hearing loss, and skeletal abnormalities. Luke has just started kindergarten and is so excited to start learning with his new friends. His happiness is contagious!
- Brielle Gaine, a joyful 12-year-old girl from Tappan who has been fighting a lifelong battle against neurofibromatosis (NF1), which can cause benign tumors to grow along nerve endings throughout the body. Last year, one such tumor located on her leg turned malignant and had to be removed along with the nerve it was attached to, leaving her leg severely weakened. Brielle loves sports and is hoping to be back playing them again soon. She has a positive attitude and is a true fighter, just like her parents!
- Zach Dolinsky, a 14-year-old boy from Nyack with a heart condition that required him to undergo surgery last year. Zach suffered significant post-op complications when his airway closed up and he was deprived of oxygen for 10 minutes, leading to significant brain and respiratory trauma that he is still recovering from. Zach is determined to get better, and his strength is an inspiration to his whole family.
